He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 and from his mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
