He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and pious. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and palms 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruit and grass - 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
