He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 and angelic scribes. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
