He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and in awe of God 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 olives, dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
