He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you attend; 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And he feareth 9 You neglect. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 Olives and dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
