He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
