He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
