He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and in awe of God 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyous 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
