He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him you give attention. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 In honored books, 13 lofty and pure, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and purified. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and palms 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
