He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and in awe of God 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and fodder 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
