He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And whereas he fears, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
