He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and palms 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
