He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
