He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
