He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and in awe of God 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and palms 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
