He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him you attend; 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
