He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you attended to him, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and in awe [of God] 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honourable pages. 13 uplifted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
