He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And he feareth 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
