He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you attended to him, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, pure. 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and purified. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 with darkness overspread: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
