He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fears (Allah), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
