He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and who has fear of God, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and herbage 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
