He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 So you are after him! 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And whereas he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
