He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 So you are after him! 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble, pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
