He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And he feareth 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 olives, dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
