He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 to him thou attendest 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and fearfully, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and grass, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
