The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and the night that falls, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
