The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
