The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
