The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is covered, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Where then will you go? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
