The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 The rising dawn, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
