The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and brightening morning, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
