The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
