The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas rise, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the close of night, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
