The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Where then will you go? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
