The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is wound up; 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
