The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the pages are made public 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
