The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
