The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is folded up, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. 15 that hide, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
