The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
