The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 The closing night, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
