The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is wound up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 The rising dawn, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Then where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
