The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
