The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
