The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
