The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the pages are made public 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 The rising dawn, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
