The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
