The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 The rising dawn, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. 29
