The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 that hide, 16 And the close of night, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
