The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 that hide, 16 by the night swarming, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. 29
