The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
