The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
